The World Of Graphic Design - 1816 Words

The world of Graphic Design is ever changing, and fast paced. Attempting to keep up with new ideas and trends can be dizzying along with tiring. We have already seen the invention of so much technology to get us where we are today, whether that be the Gutenberg Press or Apple’s Macintosh Computer. The future of design shows no signs of mercy in terms of slowing down, but just what does the future have in store? Before we can think about the future, we must first understand the past. Design can be dated back as far as pre-historic times through the Lascaux Cave Paintings. Done over 200,000 years ago, it is the earliest known example of writing. It would later be discovered as a form of communications. The Egyptian culture utilized design in their Book of the Deads. Each book was made to include passwords, and spells to help those you have passed away in their afterlife. It would be until the Chinese civilization, and all their world changing inventions, where we would see an e mergence of the printing process. Alongside the compass, and gunpowder, the civilization also invented paper, and what is known as Chinese Chops. Chinese Chops were commonly made of jade, silver, or even ivory, and was a stamp like objects that allowed for mass production at the time. Between a combination of the Chops and a shortage of iron, the culture was able to get printing into the hands of everyone through money.
